Collins was a self-taught guitarist who learned his art on the streets and farms of Indiana before becoming Benny Goodman's guitarist in 1976, and his straight-ahead bop playing with deep swing-era roots is an absolute delight. Highlights include Miles Davis's Blue Haze, Miles' Theme, Sometimes I'm Happy, and a lovely reading of So What. Effortlessly swinging, deeply musical, and hugely enjoyable.
