Some sort of Pan Am airline tourist tie-in for the popular Puerto Rico destination, but great latin music nonetheless. Mambo and Bomba music from Tito Puente and his orchestra. Tito Puente's early recordings are best known for the dance-oriented mambos, bombas and chachachas etc, while the later material is more Latin jazz. Cuban born Senor Hernandez directs a dynamic, vital aggregation typical of Cuban popular music exposition at its modern best. The attack of the brass and rhythm is something at which AngloSaxon ears may marvel once again... 12 tracks including: El Conde y la Condesa, Quimbombo, Noche de Ronda, Golden Moon, Las Cuarentonas, Rapsodia De Cueros, Domitila, Batacha, Love For Love, Tropicale, Oye Mulata, From This Moment On/ El Cumbanchero. Alberto Socarras is credited as the first Cuban flute player in jazz and one of the first to start an orchestra performing latin music in New York city. His flute playing and Arrangements are often praised highly by more modern latin musicians. 12 tracks including: Tea For Two Cha Cha, Sixty Second Mambo, A- You're Adorable, Nervous Gavotte Mambo, Hal's Cha Cha Cha, Mambo Impromptu, Algun Dia and others. Jacket open but still in shrink, has two small drill holes, vinyl looks brand new.
